Work of Art Surprise BSU082416

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features using Work of Art for this weeks Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

Stamping with Stace Work of Art & Tin of TagsI love these types of stamps.  They make great backgrounds. I also used a new stamp set from the Fall/Holiday catalog called Tin of Tags.  This stamp set should be a must on your list.  It is featured as a set to make Christmas tags with.  I think there are some words that can be used for other things such as birthdays and Valentines Day.

Garden Green is used for the card base,  The Cherry Cobbler strip is 1″x 4 1/4″.  The Crushed Curry layer is  an3 3/4″  square.  The white is a 3 1/2″ square.  I randomly stamped the images from Work of Art.  Surprise is stamped with Cherry Cobbler.  Surprise is from the Tin of Tags set.  I think it is great for a birthday, don’t you?  September 1, you can visit my store and pick it up.

I can’t wait to see what Carol and Terri have come up with this week. We would love to see what you create.  Please share with us on our Facebook page.

Color Challenge BSU081716

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.  We had to use Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White.

Stamping with Stace Paisleys & PosiesOnce I pulled my card stock out, I knew which stamp set I had to use: Paisley & Posies from the Fall/Holiday catalog and will be available for purchase September 1.  It has a matching die set as well.

To make the plain area to stamp the verse, I masked off the area using Post-It Note tape.  I love this stuff!  It’s great for masking because it peels off so easily.

Let’s see what Terri and Carol have come up with this week.  Terri’s blog is here. Carol’s blog is here.

Inked Embossing Folder Technique-BSU81016

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Inked Embossing Folder technique for a Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.

Stamping with Stace Inked Embossing Folder TechniqueI am a little behind on my challenges.  This was actually last weeks challenge.  In the end, I did get it completed.

If you have never used the Inked Embossing Folder Technique, it is quite easy.  It is exactly as it sounds.  On the smooth side of the embossing folder, I tapped my Early Esspresso ink pad directly to the plastic.  You could also use sponge daubers or a brayer if you wanted to.  I like a nice dark layer of ink, so I use the ink pad itself on the plastic.

I carefully place Crumb Cake card stock in the embossing folder, making sure I didn’t wiggle it too much.  Then, I ran it through my Big Shot.  The lighter wood grain is the part of the embossing folder that didn’t have ink on it.

The fox is stamped with Early Espresso ink.  I cut it with the Banner Framelits and layered it on a piece of Island Indigo card stock.  Once again, I have cut apart my burlap ribbon to make strands of thread.  The Grateful is from Seasonal Frame Thinlit Dies.  This is retired, however, you can still get it on the clearance rack.

Let’s go see what Carol and Terri came up with for this challenge.  Carol’s blog can be found here.  Terri’s blog can be found here.

Butterfly Theme Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 080316

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features butterflies for a Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

Istamping with stace, gorgeous grunge, butterfly thinlit decided to use my favorite Butterfly thinlit and stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge.

My card base is Marina Mist.  The butterfly is cut from Cherry Cobbler card stock using the Big Shot.

Did you notice my butterfly has antenna?  I LOVE burlap ribbon.  I constantly cut it and unravel it into strands.  That is what I did here.  I attached it with glue dots.

I used Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler inks to stamp on Crumb Cake card stock to stamp Gorgeous Grunge images.

Lets hop over to Terri and Carol’s blogs to see what they have crated this week.  Terri’s blog can be found here.  Carol’s blog can be found here.  If you would like to share your butterfly creations with us, you can do so on our Facebook page here.

Swirly Bird BSU072716

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Swirly Bird Bundle for this weeks Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

stamping with stace swirly bird oceanI have a friend who works at Maine Maritime Academy.  For those who don’t know it is a college that teaches engineering and sailing ships.  Don’t ever call a ship a boat near them 🙂   Right now she is on an enjoyable cruise ship on vacation-not a working ship working.  I had her in mind when I made this card.

This is a simple card.  A Whisper White card base, layered with Marina Mist.  I sponged the ocean with Marina Mist.  The dark spots are stamped with Dapper Denim.  I layered the “wave” over the ocean, which was cut from Marina Mist.

The sun  background was sponged with Daffodil Delight and the sun itself with cut from matching card stock. The sailboat was stamped with Pumpkin Pie and Dapper Denim onto scrap white card stock and hand cut with scissors.  It has a dimensional behind it to give it a little pop.

Let’s see what Carol and Terri created this week.  I am sure they came up with something cute and adorable.  Carol’s blog can be found here.  Terri’s blog is here.  We would love to see what you create with Swirly Bird.  Share with us on Facebook here.

Broke Stampers Unite Color Challenge 072016

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.  We had to use red, white and blue this week.

stamping with stace mini gift bagI went away last weekend and stayed at a friends house.  They were so generous letting me and my daughter (along with a few other guests) stay at their house.  Having a house full of people can be nerve racking even for just one night!  We all had a wonderful time at Old Hallowell Days thanks to our wonderful host.

old hallowell days 2016

part of the finale-you can’t even see the other side of the river.

When we first said the colors would be red, white and blue, I instantly thought of July 4th and fireworks.  Of course that was quite awhile ago.   Old Hallowell Days has activities going on for an entire weekend including FIREWORKS!!

Anyhow, back to my project.  I used red designer series paper (DSP) and the Mini Gift bag thinlit to make the gift bag.  I used the banner to cut a piece of Marina Mist. For You was cut from Silver Glimmer Paper. Both of these items are in with the Mini Gift Bag set.

stamping with stace mini gift bag gift card holder

The inside is a piece of Marina Mist.  I will use glue dots to add a gift card to the insert.  I stamped the images which were from the  B.Y.O.B stamp set with the new in-color Dapper Denim.  I love this color!

I wonder what Terri and Carol are up to this week.  Let’s check out Terris blog here, and Carol’s blog here.  We would love to see what you come up with for this color challenge.  Please share your creations with us on our Facebook page.

Spotlighting Technique -BSU071316

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Spotlighting Technique for our weekly Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.

stamping with stace spotlight techniqueThis technique may look difficult, but it isn’t.  At least not the way I did it.  My card base is Basic Black.  I stamped on a Whisper White layer with Stazon ink using the flower from You’ve Got This stamp set.

With my 1 1/4″ circle punch, I punched part of the flower.  I colored it with Real Red and an aqua painter and Crushed Curry.  Next, I punched Basic Black with a 1 3/8″ circle punch. I layered the two pieces together.  Then, I placed a dimensional on the back.  I carefully aligned the two image pieces back together.

I stamped Happy Birthday Sunshine with the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  I added some sequins that I had from the local store.

Let’s see what Terri and Carol have come up with this week.  Terri’s blog can be seen here.  Carol’s blog can be seen here.  We would love to have you join us and share your creations on our Facebook page here.

Birthday Wishes -BSU070616

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  This weeks theme is birthdays.

stamping with stace birthday cardEvery one needs birthday cards so this is a great challenge this week.  I love the new stamp set Sunshine Sayings.  It has many great verses plus a wonderful coordinating framelit set.  Today, I only used the Happy Birthday verse.

I used lots of retired product this week.  However, the concept is simple and can be used with any designer series paper and accessories.

Whisper White is a standard card base.  The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is cut 4″x4″.  Washi tape was used as an accent across the DSP.  I used a flower punch to cut two flowers.  One from Whisper White card stock and one from velum.  The center is cut from Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper.   I stamped Happy Birthday from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set on Whisper White and cut a banner.  And there you have a cute and quick birthday card.

Let’s see what Terri has created this week.  Let’s check out her blog here.  We’d love it if you shared your creations with us on Facebook.

ABC (Anything But a Card) BSU062916

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features an ABC (Anything But a Card) Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

My inspiration was Pinterest.  Usually, if I need inspiration, I will go to Pinterest.  The other day I was just on Pinterest and a Star Shaker Ornament was on my feed from lovinstampin.  I thought how cool, it could be completely changed up for the Fourth of July!

July 4th Shaker Ornament

So here is my Forth of July shaker ornament before I punched a small hole and added string at the top.  I wish my  iPad could get the sparkly effects of the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper that I used for the “thanks”.  My thinlit is a retired set, but you could use the thanks from Hello You thinlit set that is current.

My stars are made from using the Star Framelt set on Night of Navy and Real Red card stock; and on a piece of Window Sheet.  I filled my shaker ornament with red and white sequins from my local department store.

I wonder what Terri has created this week. Let’s check her blog here.  Carol has a crazy schedule going on, so she won’t be joining us for a bit; but we know she is with us in Creative Spirit.  Would you like to share your ABC projects with us?  Join us on Facebook here.

Sprinkles of Life BSU062216

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Sprinkles of Life for this weeks challenge.  I am also using the new In-Colors.

sprinkles of life stamping with stace

I just love this years In-Colors, they are so pretty and vibrant.  The card base is Dapper Denim, layered with Emerald Envy.  The flowers are stamped with Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sugarplum.  The cloud is Dapper Denim stamped off once on scrap paper before stamping it on the Whisper White.

The Tree Builder punch works wonders with Sprinkles of Life.  It made it so easy to stamp trees or (cupcakes or ice cream or snowmen or whatever you can think of).

Color Challenge BSU061516

Oh my Goodness Stampers.  My Creative Chaos has seemed more like chaos.  It is the end of the school year which is crazy enough, but it made our schedules crazy enough that Terri, Carol and I couldn’t get together to do our weekly Broke Stampers Unite challenges until today.  Luckily, I am not the only late one this week.  Phewww.

Stamping with Stace swirly birdThis week is a color challenge.  We had to use Wild Wassabi, Rose Red, So Saffron, and Whisper White.  I finally got a change to play with my preorder items.  This set is called Swirly Bird and it has matching framelits.   I added some large pearls to the centers that I needed to use up.

So let’s head over to Terri and Carol’s blogs to see what they have come up with.  You can see Terri’s project here, and Carol’s blog here. To see this and all past Broke Stampers Unite challenges, check us out of Facebook.  Feel free to share your creations with us.

Reflection Technique- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 060816

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Reflection Technique for a Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

stamping with stace reflection techniqueI used In the Meadow.  It inspired a masculine card. I am so glad this set carried over from the spring catalog.  I love the nature/animal stamp sets for masculine cards.

This technique is actually quite easy.  Stamp your first image onto your card stock.  Second, stamp the same image on to a window sheet.  Since the window sheet is plastic, the ink will stay wet for quite some time.  Flip the window sheet over, align the two images (super easy since the window sheets are transparent), rub the back of the window sheet.  This will transfer the image to your card stock.

I used sponges and sponge daubers to color the sky, water and grass using multiple blues and greens.  I used Crumb Cake to color the deer and their reflections.

My card base is Night of Navy.  Soft Sky is the layer which has strips of burlap ribbon string wrapped around it.  On the inside of the card, I placed a layer of Soft Sky card stock.  I stamped the flower from In the Meadow with the verse from You’ve Got This on the inside.  I figure men made need encouragement every now and then too.

I wonder what Terri and Carol have come up with this week.  Let’s check out their sites.  You can view Terri’s blog here.  Carol’s blog can be seen here.  If you would like to share your creations of this challenge or any other challenge, share with us on Facebook here.

Celebrate Donuts-Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite challenge using any stamp set from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

Celebrating DonutsI am using items that carried over from the last catalog since I will be celebrating National Donut Day on Friday with my students.  They love donuts and talk about them all the time.  We have even researched about National Donut Day.  The quick version is: it is to celebrate the ladies of the Salvation Army serving donuts to soldiers.  There is another donut day in November, which is just to celebrate the donut itself.

Ok, enough with the quick history lessons.  Back to my cards.  I used the circle thinlts to cut my donuts (Crumb Cake) and the frosting layer (Blushing Bride).  I used the sprinkles from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set with Real Red, Tangerine Tango, and Island Indigo inks.  The cursive verse is from Ballon Celebrations.  The type font is from a retired set And Many More.  Of course, when I was all done, I couldn’t imagine what I could put on the inside.  I found another retired set and stamped “Bon Appetite!”  How lucky was that???

I think the kids will love these along with a box of edible donuts.  What do you think?  Of course most of my student are teenage boys who will eat almost anything!

I wonder what the other girls came up with.  They might even be using new stamp sets from the new catalog.  (Click here to see the new catalog.) To see what Terri and Carol made; let’s visit their blogs.  Visit Terri here.  Visit Carol here.  Join your creations with us on Facebook.

Flower Shop Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite challenge using Flower Shop.

flower shop broke stampers unite challengeThis challenge was a little different than normal.  Usually, Carol, Terri and I get together online and decide what challenges we will be doing for the month.  Sometimes we even figure out more than a month in advance depending on the holidays.  This week, it was down to the wire!! It was MONDAY MORNING we decided.  Holy smokes.

During my day, I had doodled a little sketch of what I wanted to do.  Which was very similar to this card.  In my drawing, I had three flowers along the edge of the circle.  In reality that was too crowded.   i decide to take my three flowers I punched and make one multilayered flower instead.  (You must let creativity take you where it needs to go 🙂

I used Tempting Turquoise for the base.  I sponged Pumpkin Pie onto some glossy white card stock I found that was retired who knows when….  I stamped and punched my flower with Pumpkin Pie.  I stamped the verse with Old Olive.  I used the Bird Builder Punch for the leaves.  Candy Dots are the center of the flower.

Have you ever thought of joining us for one of our challenges, current or past?  i discovered, as I am staying up late to finish my card, these challenges make me take time out for myself no matter what is going on.  I have moved within the last month.  Cleaning an 8 room house to move into a 3 room apartment is no easy task.  I spent a good part of my day with fifty 12-13 year olds on a school bus.  (Yes, I took a nap when I got home!)  However, the time I spent creating this card, gave me time to myself, to do something for myself.

With all that being said, let’s check out what creations are on Carol’s blog and Terri’s blog.  Take some time to be creative and share with us on our Facebook page.

May Color Challenge- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.  This month we had to use Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Smokey Slate, and Very Vanilla.

Stamping with Stace Swallowtail SympathyI knew I wanted to use my Swallowtail stamp before it retired.  Then a dear friend’s dog passed away.  I had to change it up a bit to make a sympathy card.  It is heart breaking to lose a fur baby.

I am excited to see what Carol and Terri made this week.  I hope they didn’t need to make a sympathy card like I did.

Heat Resist Technique- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Heat Resist Technique for a Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

If you have never heard of Heat Resist technique, you simply emboss with clear or white embossing powder on white card stock.   Next, you sponge your color over the design.  Finally, wipe off any excess ink off the card.  The ink doesn’t stick to the embossing, so you are left with a white design.

heat resist technique Stamping with StaceHere is my card.  I embossed the tree from Sheltering Tree.  I used my sponge daubers to apply Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi ink.  I layered it on Wild Wasabi and Marina Mist card stock.  The verse is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped with black Staz-on ink.

I am curious to see what Terri and Carol created this week.  Let’s check out Terri’s blog here, and Carols blog here.  You can share your version of this challenge with us on our Facebook group page here.

Masculine Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a masculine card challenge from Broke Stampers Unite.

stamping with stace masculine cardI love to crumple paper for a grunge look for masculine cards.  Timeless Textures and Gorgeous Grunge are wonderful for this “technique” if I can call it that.  I sprayed my Night of Navy card stock with alcohol to make the fibers separate.  Alcohol also dries very quickly, so you don’t have to wait long to assemble your project.  The base, Cajun Craze, the crumpled layer Night of Navy, and the Smokey Slate top layer were all stamped with Cajun Craze ink.

I used a sentiment from Bombs Away Birthday.  I found an old arrow paperclip at the bottom of my cabinet.  I was actually looking for a silver button.

I am hoping the person I plan on sending it too this month doesn’t see it on Facebook. I also hope they don’t think I am calling them old, even though I am 🙂

I wonder what Terri and Carol are up too the week for the challenge.  Let’s look at Terri’s blog here, and Carol’s blog here.  I am sure it is going to be something wonderful.  They are such talented ladies.  We would love to see your cards as well.  Join us for the challenge on Facebook.  Feel free to do any past challenges as well.

Sad Farewell- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite challenge using a set that is on Stampin’ Up!’s retirement list.  One of the many I hate to see go is Feel Goods.

feel goods stamping with staceI just love the verses and the script that is used in this set.  My favorite verse is “She Believed she could, so she did.”

I also believe the ladies from Broke Stampers are rubbing off on me.  I used 4 colors on this card, which 2-3 is normally my comfort zone.

I stamped the flower from You’ve Got This on the Island Indigo base card stock with Rich Razzleberry ink. I added a layer of Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, and Bermuda Bay.  I stamped the main images with Rich Razzleberrry as well.

I wonder which stamp sets Carol and Terri have used. Let’s check out Carol’s blog here, and Terri’s blog here.  Would you like to share your favorite retiring stamp set with us?  Share with us on Facebook.

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge from Broke Stampers Unite using Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo.

imageI cheated a little, I cannot find my Very Vanilla card stock so I used a piece of Whisper White to stamp on 🙁   I used the stamp set Happy Home which is one of the sets that is retiring at the end of the year.  To see a complete list of all retiring items click here.  Make sure you get all those stamps and papers you HAVE TO HAVE before they are gone forever!!

Broke Stampers Unite- Baby Wipe Technique

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Baby Wipe Technique for a Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

image

The Baby Wipe technique is rather simple.  Dab a baby wipe into your ink pad and then rub it on Whisper White card stock.  And then you can use a second baby wipe to clean your fingers if you accidentally stick them in the ink pad. 🙂

I used Wisteria Wonder ink and card stock, as well as Wild Wasabi ink and card stock.  I stamped the ferns with Old Olive ink.  The verse was stamped with Eggplant Envy.
