BSU Challenge 112217

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Coffee Cafe for a Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.

I love this set.  Coffee is equally as important as chocolate.  So why not coffee and a chocolate cupcake?

I used the cup wrap die on Chocolate Chip card stock to make the cupcake.  I did trim it down a little, just to make the proportions next to the coffee cup more realistic. The steam is cut from glitter paper and the swirl from the Snowflakes bundle. I am getting hungry just looking at this.

Let’s see what Terri and Carol have come up with this week.

BSU Color Challenge 111517

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.  Make a card using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, and Always Artichoke.

Color challenge tend to be difficult for me.  Not this particular challenge.  Leaf Peeping season has ended in New England.  It was a long season since October had set a record for high temperatures this year.  The mountains were covered with reds, yellows, oranges, greens and browns.

Did you know the Eastern Medallions framelits make awesome sunflowers?  I used the 1 3/4″ punch for the center of my flower, but a 2″ circle punch would work as well.  I used the Gently Falling embossing folder to make the seeds of the sunflower.

Let’s checkout Terri and Carol‘s blogs to see what creative ideas that had.

BSU Challenge 110817 Kissing Technique

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Kissing Technique for a Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.

For those of you who don’t know, the Kissing Technique is when you take a large background stamp, ink it up and use it for an ink pad.  Next you place a smaller, solid imaged stamp on the “ink pad” causing the two stamps to “kiss”.  The ink and image from the larger stamp is transferred to the  smaller solid stamp.  Is that clear as mud??

When we discussed the technique, I said sure no problem.  Houston, we have a problem.  I used to own mostly solid images (most have retired) and I decided I needed more images to color  (my current sets).  My dilemma, to find a current solid stamp and a larger patterned stamp.  My only background stamp was the wood grain.  Ummm that won’t work.  I did have the background stamp to You’ve Got This.  I can make it work.

I also used the stitched framelits to cut out my flower from Flourishing Phrases and a few more circles. the Designer Series Paper is retired but it went with my colors.  Most importantly, I completed a challenge and I am not behind 🙂

Let’s see what Carol and Terri have come up with this week.

Painted Harvest BSU 102517

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Painted Harvest.  This is my late submission for the October challenges for Broke Stampers Unite.

Originally, I didn’t care for this stamp set.  I liked it better when non traditional colors where used for the flowers.  Then I started seeing little hedgehogs.  What cute cards everyone was making.  I had to try one.

Here is my first attempt. Many people used the faces from Foxy Friends.  I didn’t have that choice since I don’t own that set.  I colored 3 of the 5 dots for the center of the flower.  Not too bad.  Next time I may just draw the dots in to make his face larger.   This is a 4″ x 4″ card.

Let’s check out what Carol and Terri have created.  Make sure you come back on Wednesdays for our regularly scheduled challenges.

BSU Challenge 110117

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite challenge: thanksgiving/grateful.

I have a punch art turkey this week.  I made these at a fellow demonstrators event.  It features Labels to Love and the Foil Snowflakes.  We also used the retired owl punch.  So some will say these are Thanksgiving cards since they feature turkeys and say Give Thanks.

I consider them GRATEFUL cards.  I am grateful that my friend didn’t laugh too hard at my cutting ability. My turkeys look like they have been on a sever binge drinking weekend.  Grateful my friend didn’t get angry because I also cut her turkeys while she did the stamping for our cards.  Grateful that a fellow demonstrator squeezed me into her class to help me get my stamping mojo back.  Grateful my mom will like these cards despite the fact they are the ugliest turkeys I have every seen.  (Mom’s have to like what every their children make-it’s in the rule book! LOL)  I did emboss my background very nicely 🙂

Let’s go see what what Terri and Carol have created this week.

BSU Color Challenge 101717

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features October’s color challenge for Broke Stampers Unite.  As you know I am getting caught up this week.  The color challenge for October was Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, and Very Vanilla.

My inspiration for this card was a couple things.  1) the colors- espresso says it all- COFFEE!  It is prime leave peeping season in New England, orange leaves are everywhere. 2) I finally got to place an order and I have been waiting so long to get the Coffee Cafe bundle from the regular catalog and the Merry Cafe set from the Holiday catalog.  OMG coffee is as important as chocolate!  Well, a very close second place.

I love everything about this bundle.  The coffee choices, the framelits and the coordinating Designer Series Paper as well.

Check out what Carol and Terri created.

Where Does the Time Go?

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room!  Oh my goodness.  I can’t believe how long it has been since I have posted.  I am so glad you are here with me now. Time really does fly.  I took September off from stamping since I started a new school, new town and new everything.  I have no idea where October went.  It must have been my daughter’s soccer.   🙂

I got to stamp this weekend.  I am catching up on all my BSU challenges.  Now to get the blog posts done.  I will do my best to get them done before while the storm that is hitting Maine continues to reek havoc.

Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite challenge Halloween/Autumn.  I am not sure if the technique used has a special name or not.  It is done by using a baby wipe with a few drops of re-inkers.  Basically, it is using the baby wipe as an ink pad.  I created this card with a friend.  Now I NEED this stamp set!

If you would like to see what Terri and Carol created for this challenge, check out there blogs.

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a 3D item for this weeks Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

So my first thoughts for this challenge were what can I alter and what holiday is coming up soon.  I don’t consider “Back to School” a holiday since it means I go back to work 🙂 The next holiday I would stamp for is Halloween.

What goes with Halloween?  The dollar store! I bought the mini Hershey bars.  I covered 8 of them to put in a clear envelope!  You heard me, a clear envelope! They fit very snuggly but they do fit.

To cover the candy bars, I cut Designer Series Paper (DSP) in 3″x3″ squares.  Put adhesive on one edge of the paper and wrap it around the candy bar.  I am using up some  DSP from a couple years ago, but it was the only Halloween style aper I had.  Challenges are great for using up some old supplies.

I cut a 2 inch strip for the tag.  I used the Halloween stamps from Home Sweet Home.

The tag is actually placed on with dimensionals. I had wrapped the envelope with some colored bakers twine.  Next time I will probably place a card size sheet of DSP under the candy bars for additional support.

I wonder what Terri and Carol have come up with for this challenge. Please share your creative 3D/Anything but a Card projects with us on Facebook.

Dragonfly Well Wishes BSU082317

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Dragonfly Dreams for a Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

I sorta, kinda cheated on this one.  I only used the Detailed Dragonfly thinlit and didn’t use the stamp set at all.  Oops 🙂

I used Butterfly Basics and Timeless Textures for the background and the verse is from Here from you.  This is a 3″x6″ get well card for a friend of mine who had a knee replacement.  My dragonfly is bringing healing wishes to my dear friend.

I cannot wait to see what Terri and Carol have created.  They are so clever.  Please share your creations with us on Facebook.

Color Challenge BSU081617

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a color challenge from Broke Stampers Unite. For this we had to use Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay.

You know how it is in the summer, there is so much to do, so little time.  Stamping isn’t something I have done for a long time.  I was up for the challenge of these beautiful colors and to use my stamp set that has been sitting there unopened (gasp).  Thank goodness we have started out stamping challenges again.  It has forced me to get out my inks and stamps.

Eastern Beauty is such a great stamp set because it has endless possibilities.

Using Versa-Mark BSU080917

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Versa-Mark for our Broke Stampers Unite challenge.

I have loved paisley since I was a teenager.  Has it really ever gone out of style?  If it has please don’t tell me it did, since it is popular once again.

Versa-mark is such a great ink.  It is so versatile, I have used it here as a background ink.  It doesn’t matter what color your card stock because Versa-mark leaves a watermark image of what you stamped.

Isn’t it great!?! It also can be used for embossing, ink resist, and many other stamping ideas.

Let’s check out how Terri and Carol used Versa-mark for this challenge.  You can see Terri’s blog here. And Carol’s blog here .  Join our Facebook group because we would love to see what you can do with Versa-mark.

Polished Stone Technique BSU061417

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Polished Stone Technique.

I love that Stampin’ Up! brought back Glossy White card stock back.  It is great for this technique.  It may look complicated but if you have a cotton ball, a little rubbing alcohol and reinkers, you can do this technique.

Dampen the cotton ball with a little rubbing alcohol.  Put a few drops of reinkers (at least two colors).  Tap the cotton ball all over the card stock.

Anything But a Card BSU053117

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a challenge from Broke Stampers Unite.  It is to create Anything But a Card.  I created 3D roses that can hold either a battery operated tea light or a chocolate.

Lovely As A Tree BSU052417

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Lovely As A Tree stamp set.

Being from the Pine Tree State, I use the pine tree from Lovely as a Tree a lot.  The sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases.  I sponged an oval. Super fast note to send to someone  special to let them know you are thinking of them.

Color Challenge BSU051717

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features  color challenge.  We had to use Basic Black, Basic Gray, Real Red, and Whisper White.

I work with a little boy that is super special.  He is going to Disney once school is out.  He is so excited to see Micky.  Once the challenge was given to use the colors, I knew what I had to make.  I didn’t have to stamp anything but Happy Birthday on the inside.  Framelits can be so fun that way!

Broke Stampers Unite Challenge 041917

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features a Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  I am a little behind on my stamping and posting.  Basketball and track have taken up much more of my time than I care to admit.

The challenge this time wasn’t a specific set, it was to stamp with flowers. I stamped on velum with black ink.  I colored using various markers on the backside of the image.

Let’s see what Carol and Terri came up with for this challenge.
