Crushed Curry Mosaic Madness

Mosaic designs are all the rage in all sorts of media.

crushed curry

I have seen DIY painting mosaic designs on your wall tutorials on Pinterest.  I have seen mosaic designs on tissue boxes.  I mean they are everywhere.  And of course, stamping.

This is a simple card base of Crushed Curry. A layer of Baked Brown Sugar was embossed on the lower half using the Modern Mosaic embossing folder.  The images were stamped with Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, and Rose Red and punched with the coordinating Mosaic punch.  Don’t you just love bundles? Not only does everything go together, there is also a 15% discount.  The banner is a layer of Bermuda Bay and Very Vanilla.  I sponged a little Crushed Curry on the the vanilla layer.  Stamped a sentiment from Petite Pairs and tahdah a quick thank you card. Don’t forget the rhinestone for a dash of bling.

Fathers Day/Summer Scrapbook Page

Here is a page I did for my June stamp club.  This was inspired by a card made by my “stamping sister” Connie Staples at a downline meeting.  She made a great

fathers day scrapbook page

little card with a BBQ grill on it that said Happy Father’s Day.  Well, it was almost Father’s Day when we met for stamp club, so I switched it up to a scrapbook page and incorporated a new alphabet stamp set.  I used the word Father because it didn’t use the same letter twice and I was trying to think of something simple for my ladies to use. Once there one of the ladies said “you could have turned the ‘w’ upside down and had it say SUMMER”.  Oh, if only I was that clever.

Anyhow, here how I made a fun scrapbook page using punches.  I love finding more ways to use punches since they are an investment.  I started off with an 8″x8″ Soft Sky background.  Added and 8″x2″ strip of Pear Pizzazz and snipped it across the top with my scissors. The grill is punched with the 1 3/4″ circle punch out of Basic Black. The grilling surface and legs are punched with the Word Window Punch from Smokey Slate card stock.  Also, the Word Window Punch was double punched from Basic Black.**  If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you will see a little handle on the grill and a little red hamburger, those are just scraps of the Smokey Slate and Real Red card stock cut using the Holiday Ornament Framelit set.  It’s just a piece of the top of any ornament in that set.  Or if you have the top of the retired ornament punch, that will work too. Finally, I used my paper piercer and mat to add mini brads to give it the look of hardware.  You know how men like their version of bling :)  Oops, I forgot the verse.  I placed all the letters from the new ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Number set and inked them with a marker.  Different verses that could be placed on here are BBQ, SUN IN THE FUN,  SUMMER FUN or maybe even MY DAD.

** Double punched refers to punching a shape once and reinserting part of the punched piece back into the punch and punching it again.  Note to self: make a video showing this.

This share was put off a little bit due to the fact my friends at VC Rocks are having a little blog hop featuring Punches, the Big Shot,  and Simply Scoring Tool.  I thought this project fit in perfectly with  that theme.  Feel free to check them out.  They are a group of very talented ladies.

Day Of Firsts

Today is a day of firsts for me.  First day of Summer Vacation, first day of 10 hour shifts, first day of part time blogging (I will now be posting 3 days a week) , first day of guest stampers.  Loni Holt is a very creative lady.  She can stamp, knit, sew, and many other things too.

Lonis tissue holder

Remember not too long ago, Stampin’ Up! sold fabric?  Well, look at what Loni made out of some small pieces.  A tissue holder.  Isn’t it just adorable?  Who wouldn’t love a pretty little tissue holder like this in their purse?  Loni even has directions to make one of these yourself.  I haven’t sewn for a LONG time but the directions seem straight forward enough that even a beginner sewer could make these as well.

So Thank You Loni for sharing this awesome project with me.  It was certainly happy mail.

Last Day Of Second Grade

Today is the last day of school.  Do you remember I posted about this free digital download not too long ago?  I created this for an end of the school year project. Sorry I only took a photo from one angle-someday I will start to remember on 3D items to take photos from different angles.

last day of school packed for you

This was a super fast and easy project.  I would recommend looking at the photo online as you build it.  I forgot the pocket went in the front and mine is on the back.  However, you if don’t tell people you made a mistake, they’ll never know. :)

Add a few small note cards and a couple chocolates and you have a gift almost any teacher would love.  Maybe next year I’ll make some of these for the secretaries for secretary appreciation day.

Mr. Big Shot

The day care I work for is almost ready for it’s summer program.  We are cleaning and organizing. Lately I have been working on cutting out letters and images with my Big Shot for the daycare bulletin boards.  What do you make with your Big Shot?  Do you think that you can only cut card stock with your Big Shot? Here is a list of all the items you can cut.

Day Off From Stamping

Today I am taking a day off from stamping.  I am spring cleaning.  I have cleaned out several bags of toys from my daughters room. Clothes that don’t fit because she is growing so much.  I have even worked on getting rid of things my husband and mine.

Next it is to tackle the garage.  Last but not least I will be cleaning out my stamp room.  I will be packing up all my stamps I don’t use/like any more. I am thinking of having a huge sale at the end of the of the summer or beginning of the school year.  Stay tuned.

Back to stamping tomorrow.

Chocolate Birthday Cake Of A Different Kind

Here is a birthday cake I made for my June Hostess and dear friend Gail.  I actually used retired designer series paper simply because A) I like it B) it is very cheery and the weather report here is another week of rain….

Gail's Birthday Cake Gail is not only the hostess in June, her birthday is in June as well.  Hmmm, what to make for a hostess gift.  I usually make something with the Big Shot with and dies.  So many of my favorite dies (and the ones I own) retired.  Oh boy, I really don’t know what to make.  Thank goodness for Pinterest.  I found this cake.

Oh it is stinkin’ cute and just perfect.  I even bought the tutorial.  Unfortunately, Michelle was out of town and couldn’t email me the tutorial for a few days.  Ok, let’s play with the chocolate and see how I can get it to stick together since I only had an afternoon to get it done.  Well, I did get it done with lots of glue dots and bakers twine to hold the inside layers together. I sure hope Gail likes it and that she doesn’t got into a diabetic coma LOL.

Supplies to make this project:

  • Designer Series Paper of your choice
  • Coordinating ribbon of your choice (1/4″ or 3/8″ ribbon would probably work best)
  • Nugget chocolates- flavor of your choice
  • Bamboo Skewers from local store
  • # 130619 (w) # 120622 (c) Label Love Stamp Set
  • # 129087 (w) # 129090 (c) A Round Array Stamp Set
  • # 129404 7/8″ Circle Scallop Punch
  • # 118874 2 3/8″ Circle Scallop Punch
  • # 130920 Artisan Label Punch
  • # 113439 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

Also, there are some great brush sets this week.  I love the “Pin Me” verse.  Does that mean I spend too much time on Pinterest??  I sure hope not.

Puppy Love or Kitten Love?

Guess what I found on my computer today, while looking for a photo of my husband for a “paper” scrapbook page. I found this project I made using My Digital Studio back in 2008.  Perhaps in July or August. Unfortunately I don’t remember the colors, font etc.  If I had to guess, I would say Chocolate Chip for the background, Real Red for the font and bow colors.  I am not sure which blues.  Oh well.

puppy love postThe photo I took was in color originally. The I made a duplicate layer in black and white and “erased” the black and white that was on my daughter’s shirt.  It really was that color red.  The cat was black to begin with, so that didn’t really change anything. Don’t ask me how I did it, I don’t remember other than following an YouTube Video.

Here is that baby kitten today.

jjA mere 16 pound cat….

She thinks she is the ruler the house and the other animals. If she thought she was any more of a queen, she would need a crown 😀

I think I have been stamping long enough some things are coming back in style again.  Eeek that is scary.

Nothing Like Playing In The Dirt

Here is a page I created using My Digital Studio. I used the Today & Everyday Designer Photobook Template. I just love the templates in My Digital Studio.

Digging in the dirt-011

The page is complete, all that needs to be done is drop and drag the photos.  Easy Peazy.

I love the fact my daughter and all her cousins get along great.  They all play together-boys & girls, with little fighting depending on who is showing their “Coombs Attitude” on any particular day.

Here they were playing outside at a birthday party. It was warm and sunny and the kids wanted to go sledding.  And they did, on their bottoms.  I have not seen so much dirt embedded into childrens’ clothing before.  It was worth the mud in the washing machine because they had a great day together.  It’s nice to know kids still like to play outside in the dirt, and don’t always need electronics to entertain them.

Don’t forget the 25% of My Digital Studio Special is still going on. You have until June 15 to order select downloads and printing products at a great discount.

Do not panic. They will all be in the holiday catalog.  I can’t wait to see what the new designs will be since the carry over list is relatively small.

Guest Stampers Wanted!

Hi everyone.  I am looking for guest stampers.  What is a guest stamper?  Any one who would like to share their creations with me and I will post them here for the world to see your creativity.  It can be cards, scrapbook pages, 3D items or home decor.  You can email me a photo of your projects or mail them to me with a return envelope.

My job is becoming full time for summer vacation.  I will be working 10 days with K-6 students.  I know they will wear me out to exhaustion.  I know I will be too tired to be as creative as I would like, even with the new catalog and my new goodies.

I also think this will be a great way to learn from each other.  I know I still don’t know everything about stamping and scrapbooking.  I’d love to have you all teach me something too.

To apply send me an email stace@stampingwithstace.com . However you send me your projects (email or snail mail) please include the recipe (list of items) used to make your project.  Please use as many Stampin’ Up! supplies as possible.
