Congratulations Michelle & Adam

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative Spa!

Today is a quick post about a former coworker.  Or should I say the gift bag and matching card for her and her groom.

The bag was made with 12×12 Designer Series Paper.  I used the 2013-2015 In Colors pack.  The card is Bermuda Bay card stock and ink, along with Whisper White card stock and Jet Black ink.

I used the Chalk Talk stamp set. The verse is the Label Love Bundle. Don’t you just love the bundles? I makes stamping and punching so much easier! (And who doesn’t want to save 15% on stamping supplies?)

If you want to see how to make your down gift bag, I have a video here.

So now I am off to a soccer game.  The final one of the season, then to Michelle and Adam’s wedding.

Holiday Catalog is Here!

Hi Stampers, welcome back to the Creative Spa!

Main_HolidayCatalog_OLO_9.1-30.2014_USDid you know the HOLIDAY CATALOG is here!  Click here is you want to download it. If you didn’t receive your free copy in the mail, please let me know immediately and I will get a copy to you.

It has so many cute things in it!  I can’t wait to share my ideas with you.  Here is my first project.  It is made with the the Curvy Keepsake Box framelitimage

I used Pumpkin Pie card stock and stamped the long lines with Work of Art stamp set.  The leaves were from Fall Fest. (Which comes in those bundles we love so much.) I used the oval punch to cut the leaves out instead of the framelit.  I added a piece from the Autumn Wooden Elements for a cute accent and a piece of twine.

Wouldn’t these be adorable to give to co-workers, neighbors, or to have them as part of a dinner setting?   I think it would be a Trick or Treat package as well.

Strawberry Slush Tic Tac

imageHi Stampers, welcome to the Creative Spa!

The other day my daughter wanted some strawberry Tic Tacs. I said sure on one condition.  I wanted to decorate it first.  It’s been a long time since I covered a mint container.  Since she chose strawberry mints, I just had to use Strawberry Slush paper and a little bit of retired ribbon.

I used A Round Array stamp set.  I punched it with the  7/8″ Scallop Punch. Of course every project needs a little bling so I used the 1 1/4″ Scallop Punch to punch Silver Glimmer Paperimage

My daughter was so cute.  Once she finished all the mints, she gave the container back since I put so much work into decorating it.  Got to love her to pieces!

Today I am packing my car to go to a local Stampin’ Up! demonstrators meeting.  Part of the week I have spent part of this week turning card fronts into full cards so they can be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Portland.  I had two helpers.  They are 6 and 7 year olds.  The seven year old helped score and fold card bases.  She also like to use the glue (snail adhesive). The six year old wasn’t as helpful.  In fact, she was quite irritated that the box was not for her to play with.

10628619_947668311926958_8646526897151787291_nEventually, she let me have the box again and we filled the box with all sorts of cards, tags and bookmarks.

Don’t you just love the dirty look I am getting while taking this photo.  It says “You really think this box belongs to you?”

Next week I should have some card samples for you to see.  I made 26 cards to swap at the meeting. We will also be making a few projects while we are there.  Would you like to come to demonstrator meetings to learn new techniques and to hear the latest Stampin’ Up! news?  Join Stampin’ Up this week and receive $150 of supplies (that you select) for only $99. Shipping is FREE!  Here are some more details about joining Stampin’ Up!.  This special ends the 28th of this month. DON’T MISS OUT!

If you join Paper Pumpkin before March 31, you will receive a set of markers absolutely FREE!

Paper Pumpkin is another great way to get stamps and all the products shipped straight to your door.  Each month a new kit will come to you, and it takes about 30 minutes to complete each project.  Your first kit will be the Welcome Kit (shown above).  Then approximately the 15th of each month you will receive an new kit.  Some months you will receive card kits, other months will be scrapbooks or other items.  Below is a video of February’s projects.

February 2014 Paper Pumpkin
Doesn’t that look cute?

Here are some projects I made with Paper Pumpkin.image The card in the upper right hand corner is how the card was supposed to be made.  I used other stamp sets I had in conjunction with the cards.

I just loved the stamp “Seriously”.  I couldn’t count how many times I said that last year at the day care.  The bathroom was in a building across the parking lot.  Let me tell you, it doesn’t matter how many times you announce that you are going to the bathroom, and you tell little children they need to go try.  Within 5 minutes of returning, someone has to go again.  I said it so many times, little five year olds started saying it too. :)

Don’t miss out on the chance to order Paper Pumpkin and earn a free set of markers.

Sweet Sorbet Memories

Hi Stampers.

image

Yesterday I said I had been stamping a long time.  Anyone remember these metal dvd tins Stampin’ Up used to sell a long time ago.  I had a stack of them in a box.  I had used them for craft fair items.  Since I am not doing craft fairs any more, I figured I take them apart and do something else with them.

I made a little scrapbook out of one.  Maggie Patterson reminded me of how that used to be popular.  Once again, what was old is now new.

I used the Saleabration paper Sweet Sorbet to decorate the tin inside and out.  I also used the 2 1/2″ circle punch and scallop punches with the Five-Way Flower for the outside as well.

The inside scrapbook pages are made with  Pistachio Pudding card stock.  It was cut to size.  You could so this will any metal container you may have.  Or even do it with one of our stamp cases.  These would make great gifts for small events such as sporting events or vacations.                                                                            image

Supplies needed to make this project:

Easter Egg Holder

Hi Stampers,

image

I realized I missed a post yesterday.  Oops.  Sorry about that.  I hand;t realized I had shared all my stamp projects with you.  I guess I will have to stamp this weekend.  Boy doesn’t that hurt my feelings.

I have a quick project that I wanted to try.  I have seen these cute little egg holders on Pinterest.  I thought they were so cute and simple and it used the new Scallop Tag Punch which I think just dresses things up just a touch.

I used Paula Knall’s directions and used them for imperial measurements. She is from the UK.  Cut your card stock 2″x8″.  Score at 3 1/2″ and 4 1/2″.  Next use the oval from the Designer Frames embossing folder (which is one of this weeks special deals)  on one side.  Use the extra large oval punch to cut the center of the oval out.  Punch both ends of the project with the Scallop Tag Punch.  From there you can decorate the front of your holder.  I used the Petite Petals bundle set.  I used the Old Olive ribbon which is still available from t the clearance rack.  I just love this ribbon.

My plastic eggs came pre-filled from the dollar store.  They came in packs of eight.  They were just the right size.  I put a glue dot on the bottom of the eggs to help hold them in place a little better.  Some of my eggs will be traveling.

Supplies needed to make this project:

  • #134821 (wood mount) #134822 (clear mount) Petite Petals Bundle
  • #133324 Scallop Tag Punch
  • #123130 Designer Frames Embossing Folder
  • #113430 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • #119859 Extra Large Oval Punch
  • #129291 Old Olive 3/8″ Striped Organdy Ribbon
  • #105118 So Saffron Card Stock
  • #126841 Primrose Petals Card Stock
  • #125858 Primrose Petals Ink Pad

Gee, You’re How Old??

image

Hi Stampers.  Have you used the stamp bundle Just Sayin’ yet?  I fell in love with it.  I have few friends that are older than me.  One is only a few days older than me, so of course I ne
I made this little booklet.  I guess thats what you would call it…  the front and back have the thin chipboard that comes with our Designer Series Paper, and the middle unfolds.ver let her forget it. :)

imageHere is what the card looks like open.  They have a pocket in the front and back.  I inserted tags using the new angle tag punche.  One tag I stamped a message and the other I placed a gift card.

image

I will try to make a video of this later in the week.  If I get it done, that will be three in one week.  A record for me :).  there are quite a few steps so it’s a little complicated to type up the directions..

Tea Bag Holder Video Tutorial

Hi Stampers.  Did you remember to change your clocks last night?  For me, Daylight Savings is like a personal holiday. I dread winter days in Maine that end at 4:30 p.m.  Today is the beginning of days being longer, warmer weather, and summer vacation will be here before we know it.  I can’t wait.

image

Friday I posted these little tea bag holders.  I am amazed at the response they had. Quite a few people asked me how to make them.  I have to admit, it is not my original idea.  I received one from Ellen Boyle in 2009.  After a decade of stamping, I have been stamping long enough that what is old is new again.  How does that happen since I don’t seem to be getting any older??  Oh well, it means I can share these awesome ideas with my new stamping friends.

I love quick, easy projects that come from the heart.  Sweet little gifts given for no particular reason lets people know how important they are to you.  This project will take about 10 minutes to make, if that.  It can hold two tea bags, a tea bag and a chocolate or two chocolates :)

Tea for Me, Tea for You

image

Good Morning Stampers.  Today I have a cute little tea holder.  It can actually hold two tea bags.  However, how would we ever get our chocolate if we did that?

imageHere is the tea holder once it is open.  As you can see, there are two pockets on the inside.  I placed a tea bag and a chocolate in them.  It could hold two tea bags, two chocolates, or anything else that is small.  Maybe some earrings & necklace set.  Wouldn’t  this make such a cute gift just to let someone know you are thinking of them?

Supplies needed to make this project:

Tag It Tissue Holder

Stampmonthmarch

Tag It is featured in  this months Stamp of the Month Club.  Did you see the post here?  Paper Therapy will come straight to your mailbox when you join the Stamp of the Month Club.

A wonderful benefit to this stamp set, Tag It,  is the Ronald McDonald House charities.  For every stamp set purchased, $3 will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House charities.  While you are building your stamp collection, you will be helping families in need.

To get the complete directions for all three projects you will have to be a subscribing member.  With each monthly membership you will receive printed directions and I will also make one of the projects on a video tutorial.  This month I am showing how to make a tissue holder.  I used Kleenex brand tissue because I figured those can be purchased nation wide.  I am not sure if the dollar store brands are the same size or not.  (Also, I could purchase these right at the store in our tiny town. I didn’t want to drive 30 minutes for a package of tissues.)
Tissue Holder Video

You may have noticed in a few spots I sounded a little flustered.  I am sorry for that.  I had all my pieces cut ready to show you how to make this little box.  It sounds easy enough.  First I had miscut my card stock, misscored it, etc.  If you name it, it probably went wrong on the video.  Oh well, I am crafter not a movie producer :) .

Something Special for Someone Special

image

Do you ever need a cute little pouch to put something in?  Perhaps something for a CD or photographs?  This is one of the fastest and cutest projects you will ever make.  A half sheet o f Designer Series Paper, a half sheet of white card stock, and a little bit of ink is all you need.

Start off with a 6′ X 12″ piece of Designer Series Paper(DSP).  I used  Crips Cantaloupe in this sample.  You want to score it at 4″ and 10″.  I punched a 6″ strip of Whisper White card stock with the Scallop Boarder Punch.  I adhered this to the smaller flap, which will become the top flap. This helps cover the small gap when the flap is closed. Place a strip of sticky strip on the two outer edges of of the 4″ piece.  This will form the pocket.

Next you will want to make a belly band for the top.  It is 1 1/2″x 11″.  It does not quite go all the way around the top of the package.  That’s ok, do not panic.  Use your Decorative Label punch with another coordinating color from your DSP.  I used Baked Brown Sugar.  Place a dimensional on each edge of the whisper white band.  Place the punched piece of Baked Brown Sugar over the dimensionals.  This will make the spacing come out perfectly.  Use coordinating ribbon as well.  I used about 13″-14″ of the Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffle Trim.

Third, stamp the large label from Chalk Talk on Whisper White card stock with Baked Brown Sugar ink.  Cut it out using your Big Shot and the coordinating Chalk Talk frame lit dies.  I hooked the label onto the ribbon.  I placed a dimensional near the top just to help hold it in place a little better.  Make sure it is only on the white belly band so it doesn’t stick to your pouch.

Here is the pouch opened.  It is the perfect size to place a stack of  4″x6″ photos.  Or if

imageyou’d like to give hundreds of photos, place a CD inside the pouch.  Maybe some sort of thin chocolate bar would fit in there instead of photos? Hmmm….  What will you put in your pouch?

Supplies need to make this project:

  • 130031 Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon
  • 120907 Decorative Label Punch
  • 130136 In Colors Designer Series Paper Stack
  • 100730 Whisper White Card Stock
  • 131174 Baked Brown Sugar Ink Pad
  • 134439 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • 130658 Magneti Platform
  • 132731 (wood mount) or 132730 (clear mount) Chalk Talk Bundle- save 15%

Party Bags

Are you having a birthday party for your child and need those little goodie bags to send home with all the little children?  Do you need a quick little gift bag for some small items?  I have made a gift bag holder that is so easy, it can be made at the last minute.  Which is usually when I get things done.

image

Stampin’ Up! has these cute little Tag a Bag Gift Bags with a cute chevron pattern on them.  There is also an accessory kit to go with it.  However, I used one of the Paper Lace Doilies and a strip of the In-colors Designer Series Paper about 1″ wide cut into a banner.

I stamped one of the flowers from Flower Shop with Coastal Cabana ink on Coastal Cabana card stock.  I used the Pansy Punch to punch it out. (Purchase the stamp set and punch as a bundle and save 15%.)

I used a glue dot to adhere the Strawberry Slush button to the flower.  A few more glue dots to adhere the completed flower to the banner.  I used a staple to close the bag shut once the party favors were placed inside.

Supplies needed to create this project:

  • 131370 Tag a Bag Gift Bags
  • 129399 Tea Lace Paper Doilies
  • 130136 In Color Boutique Details
  • 131175 Coastal Cabana Ink Pad
  • 131297 Coastal Cabana Card Stock
  • 130136 Designer Series Paper Stack
  • 103683 Glue Dots

Grammie’s Garden

Here is another scrapbook page I made using My Digital Studio. vcr challenge-001

Another reason I like My Digital Studio (MDS) is not only do you have all the selections of Designer Series Paper Stampin’ Up! has ever made; you can make your own backgrounds using your photos.

The background here is a photo I took of my mother’s tulip.  I adjusted the opacity of the photo so it looks more like background paper.  It also allows the other photos to pop.  I added a little journaling to describe our day.

One thing about My Digital Studio is once you make a design, you can have multiple copies made without doing any extra work.  Once this page was done, two copies could be printed.  One for Grammie and one for me.  My Digital Studio is great for scrapbookers who don’t have much time or don’t want the mess.  Everything can be right on your computer.  All the papers and embellishments along with all your photos from your digital camera.

Simply Coordinated Card Sets Close Ups

I had posted a card set the other day, with just one photo of all the cards together.  I was asked if I could show the cards individually.  You betcha!

All of these cards are made the same way.  I used different colors and different verses from Really Good Greetings.  All the card bases are a half sheet of 8 1/2″x11″ folded in half for your standard card base. The white layer is 4″x 5 1/4″.  The Designer Series Paper is cut 5″x2″.  The flowers are stamped and punched with the flower Shop Bundle.  One item I did forget to mention the other day, I have a layer in between the flower and button.  I used the 7/8′ Scallop Circle Punch (#129404). image

The Pistachio Pudding card is the only card that is slightly different.  The DSP is cut 3 3/4″x 2 1/2″ so it could stand in portrait mode.

So Grateful for Sticky Notes

imageBefore the invention of smart phones, or should I say before I ever owned a smart phone, I was the queen of the sticky notes!   I would drive my husband crazy with them.  They weren’t even “honey do” lists, they were notes to myself.  They were every where, which is what drove him bonkers.

I still love sticky notes and I still buy them in bulk at the beginning of the school year.  They last a little longer now because I can put some things on my phone.

Here is a sticky note cover.  It used the 2013-2015 In Colors.  Baked Brown Sugar is the base,  Coastal Cabana Designer Series Paper for the top layer.  Strawberry Slush is used for the belly band and ribbon trim.  I stamped the verse from Chalk Talk onto white card stock with Baked Brown Sugar ink and punched it with the large oval punch.

These little sticky note gifts would be perfect for teachers, secretaries, or busy moms.  They are useful and inexpensive.  Make a batch to give your friends today!
