Happy Birthday VCRocks!

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative Spa!

This weekend is Stampin’ Up!’s Convention weekend.  It also why VCRocks was created.  Virtual Convention Rocks.  This is VCRocks 15 birthday.  We have swaps etc just like you would if you really went to convention.  We chat, stay up giggling just like you would with real convention.

We also have blog hops.  This weekends blog is celebrating birthdays.  You would think I would make a birthday card of some sort.  Nope, not this time.  I decided to imagemake a celebration wreath!  I decided this for two reasons.  One, it gave the opportunity to use up some more of my retired Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Two, I was chatting on VCRocks that I couldn’t wait for my Stampin’ Up! order to come because I want to get some new Christmas DSP Merry Moments, to make some paper wreaths with.  Someone asked if I would share how to make a wreath.  Sure, why not.  Hmmm, did I really want to type that many steps?  Nope, a video must be easier to follow along with.

This type of wreath can be made with simple supplies.  Designer Series Paper and coordinating card stock depending on the reason for your wreath.  I made this for Christmas, Halloween, spring, and now a birthday.  A styrofoam wreath.  I used a 9″ wreath today.  It requires four full sheets of 12″x12″ designer series paper.  For a twelve inch wreath use six full sheets of designer series paper. You’ll also need basic straight pins from the sewing department of the store. Your paper cutter, scoring tool, and a bone folder. I used my Big Shot with the Butterflies Framelits and my beloved magnetic platform.

imageThe project takes a couple hours total.  Sometimes I can sit and do the entire project in one setting.  Other times I do it sections.  Placing the strips of paper in a plastic container and take it with me to my daughter’s activities. The rosette is the part I usually make last. A large bow could be placed on the wreath, or it could be left plain if you like.  That’s the great thing about crafting, you can make your project to fit your style.

Here is a video to watch:

I hope this video inspires you to use some of your pretty designer series paper.  Hang it on the wall where you can enjoy it everyday!  Make this for a friend for a birthday or baby shower.  Add a couple pieces of chocolate for good measure.  If you need more inspiration, visit VCRocks blog hop.
