In Everything Give Thanks-Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features imageBanner Blessings for this weeks Broke Stampers Unite Challenge.  This week our challenge is to make a thankful/grateful card.

This particular card had a lot of “paper therapy” in it.  The past year has been rough for me.  I’m forever grateful for those who have stood by me, listen to me whine & cry, made me smile and have lifted me back up! This card was filled with so much “therapy” in it, I journaled about it.  Here is what I wrote.

“The day before I made this card, I was the person who drove past someone home that had smoke seeping out the window frames.  I was the one who had to call 911.

Other people stopped to help as well.  The family was not home, but dogs were safely taken from the home which was a total loss.  After leaving the scene, I cried knowing these people were safe.  I cried know my daughter was safe visiting her dad. I was grateful for every materialistic item I own, knowing if they were lost, they could be replaced.  I started this card with the intention of being thankful for friends and family who have always had my back.

I picked the colors for the fact it is autumn, even though the weather in Maine has been a little crazy.  Warm, cold, and then warm again.  I knew which verse I wanted to use when I was given this challenge.  Then I thought it needed something for texture.  I selected Gorgeous Grunge.  After stamping I thought I’d age the card by making it look a little more worn by crumpling it all up.  I added alcohol to it really help loosen the fibers.

I wanted to stamp the image on scrap crumb cake card stock since white was too much of a contrast.  Still, the paper was still too crisp looking.  I crumpled that too.

Sometimes our feeling come out in our art.  I mean that’s what makes an ordinary project ART isn’t?  Emotional responses.  So this card fits my mood today.  It is thankful, creative, chaotic, a complete mess yet still beautiful.”

Sometimes our Creative Chaos happens because we’re busy with life and short on time.  Other times it is because the Creative Chaos is in our souls.  Either way- be creative.

Now let’s see how Carol and Terri are sharing how they express their gratefulness.
