Elfing Around in the Snow

imageHi Stampers, welcome to my creative spa!

In Maine we had a huge snowstorm.  Almost a foot of snow and my huge maple tree came crashing down in large chunks.! Two thirds of it fell, luckily it didn’t take down any power lines or crash through the rooftop. I tried stamping since I couldn’t go outside.  The constant checking on trees  made to hard to focus.

I was only able to complete one card. These have bee around for several years.  I originally wanted to make elf shoes that went around K-cups.  I thought it would make the cutest present.  The Top Note  die was too small. (I may have to try to draw something large enough.)

I decided to cut the top note pieces to make a card. Cut the top note from center to center the long way first. Each half will make one pair of elf shoes.  Next, take the long piece and cut that in half at the center point.  I used punches to cut the curves of the shoes.             image

I placed the 1″ circle punch on the outer edge and punched about 3/4 of a circle. I used the small oval punch for the top cuff of the boot- just enough to give it a slight curve. The gold pompons were punched with a small circle punch that has retired. I bet the large circles from the owl punch will work.  For the stockings, I cut 1″ strips of designer series paper.  The card base was embossed with the Polka Dot embossing folder.

Nail Polish French Fry Box

imageHi Stampers, welcome back to my creative spa. Today I am sharing a cute little birthday present gift wrapping idea.

My daughter bought her cousin some nail polish and cute socks.  I didn’t have any gift bags small enough except Christmas bags.  So, I went on Pinterest looking for cute packaging ideas for nail polish.  I found lots of things that said “Mistle-toe”,  but nothing for a birthday.  It came to me that nail polish might fit in a french fry box.

Not only did it the two bottle of nail polish fit, the socks are on the bottom of the package as well!  Bonus!

I used the Perfect Pennants stamp set,  the  Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, the French Fry Box Die, 2″ circle punch, and the 1/2″ circle punch. Indigo Island card stock and ink, last but not least Whisper White card stock. We placed everything inside a gusseted bag.  My daughter stamped a tag and punched it using the Merry Everything Bundle. Then, tied it all together with silver ribbon.

I think this would make a great present almost any time of year.  Mother’s Day, Christmas, birthdays or even as a pamper yourself gift!  The box could be decorated in many colors for the occasion.  The possibilities are endless.

Feel free to comment of share this projects with your friends.  I am still working on my Google analytics class.  The more data the better.

Congratulations Michelle & Adam

image

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative Spa!

Today is a quick post about a former coworker.  Or should I say the gift bag and matching card for her and her groom.

The bag was made with 12×12 Designer Series Paper.  I used the 2013-2015 In Colors pack.  The card is Bermuda Bay card stock and ink, along with Whisper White card stock and Jet Black ink.

I used the Chalk Talk stamp set. The verse is the Label Love Bundle. Don’t you just love the bundles? I makes stamping and punching so much easier! (And who doesn’t want to save 15% on stamping supplies?)

If you want to see how to make your down gift bag, I have a video here.

So now I am off to a soccer game.  The final one of the season, then to Michelle and Adam’s wedding.

October Pumpkin

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative Spa.

imageThe other day I talked about keeping up with my blog and the next thing you know, I had internet problems.  I am not a computer savvy person.  It took me a while to reach someone to find out all I needed to do was unplug my modem and router box.  Luckily it wasn’t anything more than that because I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself.

October is here, which means leaves changing, corn stalks, and pumpkins.  I am sure you have seen all sorts of boxes made with the new Curvy Keepsake Box.  I made a little pumpkin box with it.

Isn’t it just the cutest little box?  It only takes moments to make one of these.  The leaves were stamped with the Fall Fest stamp set.  Instead of the matching framelits, I used an oval punch to cut them out.  a little twine and an Autumn Wooden Elements.  I love easy peasy projects, don’t you?

Holiday Catalog is Here!

Hi Stampers, welcome back to the Creative Spa!

Main_HolidayCatalog_OLO_9.1-30.2014_USDid you know the HOLIDAY CATALOG is here!  Click here is you want to download it. If you didn’t receive your free copy in the mail, please let me know immediately and I will get a copy to you.

It has so many cute things in it!  I can’t wait to share my ideas with you.  Here is my first project.  It is made with the the Curvy Keepsake Box framelitimage

I used Pumpkin Pie card stock and stamped the long lines with Work of Art stamp set.  The leaves were from Fall Fest. (Which comes in those bundles we love so much.) I used the oval punch to cut the leaves out instead of the framelit.  I added a piece from the Autumn Wooden Elements for a cute accent and a piece of twine.

Wouldn’t these be adorable to give to co-workers, neighbors, or to have them as part of a dinner setting?   I think it would be a Trick or Treat package as well.

Not Much Going On in the Creative Spa

Hello Creative Spa goers!

The past few days I have not been able to visit my creative spa.  :( I have been busy with a few other things.  You know how they come in threes (at least) My water heater broke, so for just over a week I had to heat water to do anything.  Luckily, my dishwasher heats the water up to a certain temperature.  So I had hot water for dishes without a problem.

My first shower once getting hot water back, I found water in my kitchen.  Luckily it was a simple fix.  The shower drain had loosen.  A little tightening and that was fixed.

My dryer stopped heating.  After spending ungodly amounts of money for a repair man, it isn’t the dryer itself, but a worn outlet.  However, he repaired my washing machine that stopped draining in the spring.  So now I can finally wash clothes at home and let them drip dry.  All the week before I go back to work full time. :)

I will be spending the next few days working in my classroom getting ready for a new group of children. This weekend I will be going to a demonstrators meeting in Saco, ME so I will have new ideas and photos of projects to show you.  Lastly, before I go to  Saco, I will be turning card fronts into full cards to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House!

Before I end this post, I want to thank everyone who came to Stamp Club Sunday.  I also want to thank everyone who signed up for my Blendabilities 101 Class.  Don’t forget to order you Big Shot Bundle this month.

Celebrate Love

Welcome Stampers to my Creative Spa!

imageI guess love was in the air when I was stamping.  Here is another card celebrating love.  This could be used for a annivarsary or a wedding card.  Any color combination could be used depending on the need.

Have you noticed the new masks in the catalog?  I used the Hearts & Stars Decorative Mask. The masks are so easy to use.  If you have a little bit of painters tape, it will make it that much easier.  Place a small piece of tape on the back of you card to hold it in place.  I couldn’t find my tape so I used a glue dot.  Be very careful removing it because it can tear your card stock.

Next, ink up your Sponge Dauber.  Rub your ink over the openings in a circular motion. I started at the bottom and worked my way to the top without re-inking the sponge.  This is what caused the faded look.  You would do the reverse and have the lighter shade at the bottom or re-ink your sponge and have a solid color.  There are so many choices.

Once again, punches made the layers of this card super easy! The Decorative Label Punch,  the Scallop Oval Punch, and the Large Oval Punch.  Glimmer Paper for some bling and a little Venetian Crochet Trim for added romance.

Don’t forget August is Big Shot Bundle Month.  Order a Big Shot and receive on of several stamp set and framelit bundles FREE!  If you already own a big Shot you can get the bundles at a 15% discount!  I just love Bundles and saving $$!

I still have a few openings for my Blendabilities 101 Class.  I need to have your CIAF-Group2-Jul14

A Sweetheart Wedding

Hi Stampers!  Welcome to my Creative Spa.              I love this new Sweetheart Punch!  It is almost imagethe shape of a hand drawn heart.  You know they type you drew on your notebooks when y
ou were a teenager.  Remember those days?

Doesn’t his card remind you of that wonderful sense of love?  I think the Lovely Lace embossing folder adds a simple elegance to the card.  I also used the flower from the  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack,  and the Modern Label Punch which works so well with the stamp set And Many More.   The Whisper White cotton ribbon helps “tie the knot.”  Sorry, I couldn’t help myself for that pun.

Happy Watercolor Magic

Hi Stampers.

image

How long have you been stamping?  I have recently discovered since I have been stamping since 2000, things are coming back in style.  What was old is new once again.

Magic cards are one of those items.  I don’t mean the type that you shuffle.  Stamped magic cards are the ones with a black and white image.  When you pull the tab, magically color appears.

I learned this technique years ago at a local craft store that had stamp classes.  The secret is a Stamp-a-ma-jig and Window Sheets!                                              image

First, I stamped on the white card stock with black Stazon Ink.  This image was colored.  Next, using the stamp-a-ma-jig, I aligned the image to match the one on the white card stock.  That way when the card is opened the black outline will look like one image.

I have been working on this project for awhile.  When I learned to do this technique, the card was pretty close to a standard size card.  I could not find my template from years ago.  I spent many nights with copy paper, folding and cutting to try to get it right.  I am not sure that it is exactly the same as the template I used years ago, but pretty close I think.  Here are some photos of my trial versions.

image

I was getting the hang of it by the time I created the flower version. I goofed it up on the  very last stamped flower I stamped. I forgot o stamp it off once first so it would be more of a pastel color.  So they became my prototypes (that’s what my friend calls it :) )

Easter Egg Holder

Hi Stampers,

image

I realized I missed a post yesterday.  Oops.  Sorry about that.  I hand;t realized I had shared all my stamp projects with you.  I guess I will have to stamp this weekend.  Boy doesn’t that hurt my feelings.

I have a quick project that I wanted to try.  I have seen these cute little egg holders on Pinterest.  I thought they were so cute and simple and it used the new Scallop Tag Punch which I think just dresses things up just a touch.

I used Paula Knall’s directions and used them for imperial measurements. She is from the UK.  Cut your card stock 2″x8″.  Score at 3 1/2″ and 4 1/2″.  Next use the oval from the Designer Frames embossing folder (which is one of this weeks special deals)  on one side.  Use the extra large oval punch to cut the center of the oval out.  Punch both ends of the project with the Scallop Tag Punch.  From there you can decorate the front of your holder.  I used the Petite Petals bundle set.  I used the Old Olive ribbon which is still available from t the clearance rack.  I just love this ribbon.

My plastic eggs came pre-filled from the dollar store.  They came in packs of eight.  They were just the right size.  I put a glue dot on the bottom of the eggs to help hold them in place a little better.  Some of my eggs will be traveling.

Supplies needed to make this project:

  • #134821 (wood mount) #134822 (clear mount) Petite Petals Bundle
  • #133324 Scallop Tag Punch
  • #123130 Designer Frames Embossing Folder
  • #113430 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

Get Well Card

image

Good Morning Stampers,

Here’s a photo of a Get Well card I made this week for my wonderful customer.  She had to have her hip replacement replaced.  Ouch!  God Bless her for having to have it done twice due to a recall.  I hope it cheers her up while she has to have physical therapy.

The designer series paper is actually retired.  However, it can be easily substituted with any designer paper.   I used Crumb Cake card stock as the base, I used the Hardwood background stamp with Early Espresso ink.  I layered a piece of designer series paper on the bottom.  Next, I added the burlap ribbon.  I stamped images from Chalk Talk on the Crumb Cake card stock with Midnight Muse ink.  I cut them out using the Chalk Talk framelits.  Everything was sponged with Midnight Muse ink. Once the corner was folded back, I placed Neutral Candy Dots on to it.

I hope it brings a little joy.  Isn’t that the point to our stamping?

If you want to make on of the cards, order your supplies now.  For every $50 you spend, you will receive an item from the Saleabration Catalog.  Who doesn’t want free items for their paper therapy collection??

Supplies needed to create this project:

See Ya Later Alligator

image…Not for awhile crocodile!

I posted a close up of this project to see if anyone could guess what it was.  The closest I got was “an eye” of some sort.  Which was pretty close.

I saw a card on Pinterest. Brenda Quintana was the original designer. I cased her alligator using her directions.  Because of this card I wanted to make, I had to place another order to get  the Saleabration set See Ya Later.  I love how she could think outside the box on this one.  I think this card is going to be awesome to send nieces, nephews, and little baby cousins.

Are you ready to learn how to make this card?

Hexagon Hive Soccer Scrapbook

image

Good Morning Stampers.  Yesterday, I mentioned I learned how to make a soccer ball with the Hexagon Hive Framelit from Lynn Starzl.  As soon as I saw her little soccer card, I knew I HAD TO HAVE the Hexagon Hive Framelit.

My daughter had played soccer last fall and between myself and the school photographer, I ended up with several nice digital photos.  Now I need to get them printed.

My daughter is also participating in Spring Indoor Soccer.  I may be making lots of soccer ball scrapbook pages and cards for coaches.

imageI cut the Hexagon Hive Framelit from Basic Black card stock and then glued it to a piece of Whisper White.  I the then placed everything on my magnetic  plate in my Big Shot.  When using the Circle Framelits to make the balls, you can get at least two depending on the size of the balls you make.  In this photo, I used the 3rd and 4th circles from the center of the set.

The base of the scrapbook page is a piece of 8″x8″ Soft Sky card stock.  The grass is Wild Wasabi cut 1 1/2″x8″.  I used the Fringe Scissors to make the grass. I cut a photo frame 4 1/4″x 6 1/4″.  Finally, I used the Banner Punch to cut So Saffron banners to trim the photo. The year was stamped using ABC-123 Alphabet & Number  clear stamp set with Tempting Turquoise ink.

I’m off to the store to pick up my photos.

Suppllies needed to make this project:

  • 133325 Fringe Scissors
  • 132965 Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die
  • 130911 Circles Collections Framelits
  • 113439 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine
  • 130658 Magnetic Platform
  • 131203 Soft Sky Card Stock
  • 108641 Wild Wasabi Card Stock
  • 100730 Whisper White Card Stock
  • 105118 So Saffron Card Stock
  • 126952 Tempting Turquoise Ink Pad
  • 130565 ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers

Something Special for Someone Special

image

Do you ever need a cute little pouch to put something in?  Perhaps something for a CD or photographs?  This is one of the fastest and cutest projects you will ever make.  A half sheet o f Designer Series Paper, a half sheet of white card stock, and a little bit of ink is all you need.

Start off with a 6′ X 12″ piece of Designer Series Paper(DSP).  I used  Crips Cantaloupe in this sample.  You want to score it at 4″ and 10″.  I punched a 6″ strip of Whisper White card stock with the Scallop Boarder Punch.  I adhered this to the smaller flap, which will become the top flap. This helps cover the small gap when the flap is closed. Place a strip of sticky strip on the two outer edges of of the 4″ piece.  This will form the pocket.

Next you will want to make a belly band for the top.  It is 1 1/2″x 11″.  It does not quite go all the way around the top of the package.  That’s ok, do not panic.  Use your Decorative Label punch with another coordinating color from your DSP.  I used Baked Brown Sugar.  Place a dimensional on each edge of the whisper white band.  Place the punched piece of Baked Brown Sugar over the dimensionals.  This will make the spacing come out perfectly.  Use coordinating ribbon as well.  I used about 13″-14″ of the Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffle Trim.

Third, stamp the large label from Chalk Talk on Whisper White card stock with Baked Brown Sugar ink.  Cut it out using your Big Shot and the coordinating Chalk Talk frame lit dies.  I hooked the label onto the ribbon.  I placed a dimensional near the top just to help hold it in place a little better.  Make sure it is only on the white belly band so it doesn’t stick to your pouch.

Here is the pouch opened.  It is the perfect size to place a stack of  4″x6″ photos.  Or if

imageyou’d like to give hundreds of photos, place a CD inside the pouch.  Maybe some sort of thin chocolate bar would fit in there instead of photos? Hmmm….  What will you put in your pouch?

Supplies need to make this project:

  • 130031 Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon
  • 120907 Decorative Label Punch
  • 130136 In Colors Designer Series Paper Stack
  • 100730 Whisper White Card Stock
  • 131174 Baked Brown Sugar Ink Pad
  • 134439 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine

I Can’t Thank You Enough

“I Can’t Thank You Enough”  is how I feel towards everyone who comes to visit my little

imagepart of cyberspace everyday.

I have been enjoying the 2013-2015 In Colors.  They are so cheerful and springy.  As I told someone the other day, there’s so much snow here it makes my flip-flops cry.  I am probably the only person who has ever scrapbooked a page about their flip-flops! I’ll share that story later.

Back to my card.   The card base is Coastal Cabana.  The top layer is Strawberry Slush.  I bet you are wondering what stamp set has the circles that are stamped in Strawberry Slush, aren’t you?  Believe it or not, it is from Chalk Talk.  I am sure you are looking at the images and saying “Stace, there isn’t a circle stamp in there”.   Inside the image with the flowers and leaves, there is an open circle area.  Save that cut out piece,  it makes a great circle stamp.

The verse is stamped with Coastal Cabana on Whisper White card stock.  Then I used the Big Shot with the Magnetic Platform to cut out the verse using the Chalk Talk Framelits. I just love when we have matching bundles, it makes my stamping even easier!  A little ruffle trim and a button add great dimension and texture to a simple card.
