Chalkboard Technique aka My First Video

Chalkboard Technique video card

Here is a card I made using the chalkboard technique.  Most cards I have seen & created have had a white gel pen “frame” around the edges. Today I tried something a little different.

Originally, I wanted to make one brightly colored 3D flower from Secret Garden to add some pop to a chalkboard technique.  I didn’t like it.  I had a “frame” and the flowers looked a little awkward….in the trash they went (well the scrap pile for later anyways).  From there I decided to place the verse in the middle, and then I thought what the heck, I would use Secret Garden the way I normally do when I use colored ink.  Filler flowers first, then the solid ones. Rhinestones to dot the “i”s for a little bling.

So here is my very first video tutorial.  I was so nervous making it and I was the only one home.  Who would say anything to me?? The dog or two cats :)  I sure hope you like it.

Laughter Is…Feel Goods

The very first stamp set I knew I HAD TO HAVE from the Spring Catalog was Feel Goods.

pink secret garden

I especially liked the verse She believed she could so she did. All the verses are wonderful, inspiring and  make me think of my BFF’s. (Best Friends Forever if you don’t speak teenager.)  Secret Garden was one of those sets that I thought it was pretty but not really me until I go to use it.  Now I LOVE IT.  It is my go to stamp set.

Here is a card I made for a workshop that was snowed out. (Did I mention I really don’t like snow??)  The awesome part was-wrhere the party was being held didn’t have snow.   Almost every single town I had to drive through did. So this group of ladies still got together to stamp.  The ones who knew how to stamp already shared ideas with the ladies who didn’t stamp.  How cool is that?  (I just love crafters, they always want to share.)  The hostess still passed out catalogs, order forms, etc.  She had an excellent workshop without me. (Gee maybe I shouldn’t let that get around.) However, we all crafted in spirit together.  They in one town, me in another.  I made all the workshop cards for the attendees.

At The Corner Of Syamore Street and Secret Garden

Here is another cute and simple card made with the Sycamore Street

starfruit secret garden

Designer Series Paper, Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack, Secret Garden stamp set and Feels Good stamp set.

Summer Starfruit was one of those colors when it first came out I thought- eeewww it looks like mustard turned bad (ok so that is being nice, I really thought it looked like baby poop).  Guess what?  I have used all of my Summer Starfruit and I have to order some more.  It may not look like much just sitting there by itself, but once you put it with other rich colors, it is beautiful. Look around you will see it in stores as accent pillows, in sweaters, I even saw it as nail polish.  It just goes to show you can teach an ol’ girl new tricks.

Still Lovin’ Sycamore Street!

secret garden sab

I don’t know what I will do when Saleabration is over.  I have fallen in love with the Sycamore Street DSP.  Are you like me? Originally, I really didn’t care for this paper-but as usual it is SO pretty in person!

The Designer Series Paper is so pretty by itself it doesn’t need a lot of stamping to take away from it.  This is a great card for beginner stampers. It really only has two stamped images in Rich Razzleberry ink. How simple is that???  SUPER SIMPLE.

Supplies needed for this project:

  • #127540 Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper*
  • #130812 Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack*
