Broke Stampers Unite- Punch Art

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features another challenge from Broke Stampers Unite.  This week it is punch art; and it was one of my ideas.  When it came time for me to actually make something, I was wondering what the heck was I thinking???  I started to think about what holidays are coming up.  I am jumping ahead to St. Patrick’s Day.St Patrick's Day chocolate/treat holder

This will be a project that I will be making with my stamp club in February.  It is a Gherardelli chocolate holder.  For club I will pick a carmel flavor or something with a gold wrapper.  I only had peppermint chocolate.

So, can you see which punches are used?  I used the Bird Builder Punch for the nose and mustache.  The Bow Builder Punch for the bow tie.  The derby is the 2″ Circle Punch and the Word Window Punch. (I actually cut a strip 3/8″ x 2 1/2″, then I punched the ends to make it curved on the ends.)

His hat needs a lucky clover.  I made it with the heart from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  The clover is attached to a clothes pin with glue dots.  The verse is stamped and punched with the Word Window Punch and placed on the clothes pin as well.

His “body” is a piece of DSP (designer series paper) that is 2″ x 5″ folded in half to wrap the chocolate.  I punched the ends with the Scallop Tag Topper punch, even though it doesn’t show from the front side.

I wonder what Carol and Terri came up with this week.  Let’s check out their blogs.  Click on Carol’s blog here and Terri’s blog here.  I hope you join us with this challenge.  Share with us on Facebook.

A Little Something Fancy Fold Card- Broke Stampers Unite Challenge

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the A Little Something bundle, Versatile Christmas and another Broke Stampers Unite Challenge. This weeks challenge is a fancy fold card.

fancy fold card broke stampers unite challenge, a little something,I don’t know about you, but I am still trying to get my holiday cards competed.  Here is one more to add to my collection. It’s a Pop Out Swing Card.  This type of card can really wow your friends.  They will think the swinging motion is much more difficult than it is.

If you are part of my stamp club, you will be learning how to make this card this month.  If you are not, join me Friday and I will have a video tutorial.

Here is what the card looks like on the inside, when it is swinging open.                                               Stamping with Stace fancy fold card, broke stampers unite challenge

Isn’t it cute.  I love how the little snowflakes are just falling everywhere.   The verse on the inside and the front cover are from Versatile Christmas.  A few rhinestones for some holiday bling.

If you look closely at the insert.  It is a piece of whisper white card stock cut 5″ x 6″.  There are only two score lines.  On the six inch side, score at 2″ and 4″.

The “Pop Out” part of the card is the squares.  Mine are cut from black glimmer paper, whisper white and real red card stock. I cut them with the square framelits.  Again, if you’re a completely visual person who needs to see how it is put together I will have a video on Friday.

I wonder what Carol and Terri have created for this weeks challenge.  Check out Carol’s blog here.  Check out Terri’s blog here.  If you would like to join us and share your creation, join our new Facebook group.

Winter Sheltering Tree

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Sheltering Tree stamp set and embossing.

Stamping with Stace sheltering tree, white embossIt is a SUPER EASY card that can be easily massed produced for the holidays. Unfortunately, the glossy sheen  of the white embossing powder doesn’t show very well in this photo.

I simple took a half sheet of Night of Navy card stock and folded it in half.  I used my embossing buddy and versa mark stamp pad to stamp my snow  bank and tree.

I covered my card stock in white embossing powder. This is the point, before you heat the embossing powder, to check for an specks of embossing powder that shouldn’t be there.  I use a small paint brush to clean off any unwanted specks.  A simple card like this will show any extras that you don’t want on your image.

Now, that all your card only has embossing powder where you want it, heat set it with your embossing heat tool.  Finally, add a few rhinestones for a little extra bling.  Like I said, a quick and easy card for mass production for the holiday season.  Instead of a holiday greeting you could stamp a thank you greeting on the inside.

Rejoice- Bokeh Technique with Video Tutorial

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the Bokeh Technique.  Bokeh is a photography term.  It means to have a blurred, out of focus image.  I tend to think of it as photos of lights that are out of focus and they are fuzzy colored dots.

Rejoice bokeh technique with video tutorial from Stamping with StaceI have been wanting to do this technique FOREVER!  But you know how it is, there is never enough time to stamp everything you want to.  Well, I decided if I really wanted to do this technique; probably people in my stamp club would want to do it as well.  The ladies LOVED it.  I am glad I decided to do this for a project.

It also “forced” me to do a video tutorial (my goal is try to have one every week).  I wanted my friends who couldn’t come to be able to see what it the heck I was talking about.  A cool thing about this card is that no two cards look exactly alike even when you make several at the same time.

You can see how to make this card here. Or watch it below.

Keep in mind this technique can be used with any color combination and and stamp set. It doesn’t have to be just for Christmas.  Heck, you could even used the shaped framelits for a different shape other than circles. Is it a lot easier than you thought?  Give it a try in your craft room.

Monarchs and Milkweeds

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features Butterfly Basics bundle set!  I just love butterflies, so when this bundle came out I knew I had to have it.  Unfortunately, it sat in my craft pile for a long time.

butterfly basics black glitter cardAutumn is here.  The oner day was one of our last warm days.  It was sunny and beautiful. I still have a few flowers in my garden. Ok, so really it’s more of a bed of weeds with a few flowers. It is mostly a bed of wildflowers that are supposed to attract humming birds and butterflies.  I planted three milkweed plants that a friend was digging out of her garden.  This year is the first year any oimagef them had pods.  I’m so excited.

Monarch butterflies depend on milkweed which inspired my card.  I love the new black glitter paper.  It doesn’t have to be just for Halloween.  It adds beauty and bling to this card.  I used my new Precision Plate to help cut the butterflies out.

My card base is Pumpkin Pie card stock.  I layered with Wild Wassabi. I stamped the ferns with Pear Pizzaz.  I used the butterfly thinlit to cut out the butterfly shape.  I used dimensionals to raise it as well. Next, I cut a butterfly out of Basic Black card stock and glued that directly to the Pumpkin Pie base.  I cut a second black butterfly out of the butterfly basics black glitter cardBlack Glitter paper.  I glued the body to the first butterfly.  Fluff the wings for a little dimension.  Ooops, someplace in there I stamped the verse with Pumpkin Pie.  Im not sure if layering the thinlits this way has a special name or not.  If I had to guess, I would call it inlay. That’s what it is called in woodworking.

This card reminds me of summer as resist autumn and winters arrival.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Scallop Tag Chocolate Holders

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s creative project features Chocolate!

imageOne of my favorite chocolates to craft with is Ghiradelli chocolate!  Perfect little squares to decorate with the Scallop Tag Punch. I have made three today.  Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Actually, the snowman can be used for a winter birthday or any time during the winter.  It could be a spring project as well since he is melting :)

I used a variety of inks and card stock to create each chocolate holder.  However, the measurements are the same.  Cut your card stock 2″ x 5 1/2″.  Score it at 2 5/8″ and 2 7/8″ on the long side.  This is easier to measure before you punch the two ends with the scallop tag punch.

the snowman is not an original idea.  I saw it on Pinterest and I followed the directions of Judi Anderson. I did create my own cheat sheet so I can remember how to make this cute little snowman more than once.image

You can click on the image to enlarge it to see what I used. I colored the rhinestones with a permanent marker to make them look like coal.

I love these chocolates and the scallop punch to make these holders!  It is such a quick and easy creative chaos idea for those last minute gift giving moments.

Autumn Sheltering Tree

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room! Today’s project features the stamp set Sheltering Tree.

sheltering treeAs much as it pains me to say, summer is gone and autumn is here. (Please don’t remind me snow will be here before we know it.  Snow is a dirty four letter word in my book :) !) I can sorta handle autumn when it is at least warm and sunny during the day.

Once I created my Thanksgiving Day card, I went on to create this card.  It was such a fun card to make; sometimes simple is best.  This card is all layers simply applied with snail adhesive.  It uses one stamp set Sheltering Tree with several colored inks.  The inside of the card reads: Thankful for you!  I am not sure who I am going to mail this card too.  I am so grateful for so many people in my life.

I’d love to hear what type of cards you make for the people you are thankful for in your life.

Frankie Pillow Box with Video Tutorial

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative & Chaotic craft room!

Do you every find a imageproduct  that you just love and sit and play with it over and over and over?  I am having a ball with the new Square Pillow Box die! I have made all sorts of of boxes with this die.  One of the first ones I made was a  Frankie boxes.

Not long ago someone posted a Halloween treat using a name brand of chocolate.  I thought, hmmmm I could make something like those!  They would be so cute inside Frankie boxes!

imageCan you see what my special treats are?  Rice Krispies treats with green food coloring added to the marshmallow mixture. Once the treats hardened, I cut them into squares.  I melted a bowl full of chocolate chips in the microwave (30 seconds at a time).  I dipped the heads of my treats into the melted chocolate.  The eyes are white chocolate candy melts.  I didn’t want to melt them and draw circles, so I did something a little bizarre.  I meltedimage one side of them and then stuck them onto the rice squares.  Chocolate coated candies are the eyes.  A yummy Frankie treat to go in your adorable Frankie box.

I wrapped each one in a cellophane bag. A bit of silver cording tied into a bow closes the package.

So would you like to see how these boxes are made? Check it out here:

What an easy way to create a super special treat for some special at Halloween.  My daughter helped make these and she had a super fun time making them.  They’re as much fun to make as give!

Brewing Something Sweet!

Hi Stampers, welcome to my Creative Spa!

Have I told you how much I love the Holiday Catalog??  I want one of everything! imageDon’t you?? Once I saw Sweet Hauntings in the catalog, I knew I had to have it.  I mean it has stamps about chocolate for one thing! Also, being a huge Harry Potter fan, I love the potion bottles.

Here is my creation of a cute Creative Chaos card.  To make things easier when life if chaotic, I started with the Crumb Cake Note Cards & Envelopes.  I added a layer of Crumb Cake card stock. I stamped it with the Hardwood background stamp. I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink for an aged look.

I stamped and embossed the poison bottles with silver embossing powder and heat tool. I used my aqua painters to color the bottles with the 2014-15 Incolors. The Happy Scenes Bundle set was used to make the shelf, and I used the cute little spider to add a bit more spookiness. I stamped the envelope with the spider as well.

Inside, I stamped “Brewing Up Something Sweet” on the inside.  I just love the play on words.

Not Much Going On in the Creative Spa

Hello Creative Spa goers!

The past few days I have not been able to visit my creative spa.  :( I have been busy with a few other things.  You know how they come in threes (at least) My water heater broke, so for just over a week I had to heat water to do anything.  Luckily, my dishwasher heats the water up to a certain temperature.  So I had hot water for dishes without a problem.

My first shower once getting hot water back, I found water in my kitchen.  Luckily it was a simple fix.  The shower drain had loosen.  A little tightening and that was fixed.

My dryer stopped heating.  After spending ungodly amounts of money for a repair man, it isn’t the dryer itself, but a worn outlet.  However, he repaired my washing machine that stopped draining in the spring.  So now I can finally wash clothes at home and let them drip dry.  All the week before I go back to work full time. :)

I will be spending the next few days working in my classroom getting ready for a new group of children. This weekend I will be going to a demonstrators meeting in Saco, ME so I will have new ideas and photos of projects to show you.  Lastly, before I go to  Saco, I will be turning card fronts into full cards to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House!

Before I end this post, I want to thank everyone who came to Stamp Club Sunday.  I also want to thank everyone who signed up for my Blendabilities 101 Class.  Don’t forget to order you Big Shot Bundle this month.

Work of Art Week

Hi Stampers!

imageBack in May, I went to a Stampin’ Up! regional event.  We all received a stamp set called Work of Art. I love going to Stampin’ Up! events- they spoil us so much.

Here is one of my creations I will be featuring this week.  It works wonderfully by itself or used as background stamps for other cards.  This weeks cards will feature only Work of Art.

I do have one VERY IMPORTANT TIP for you. If you order the wood mount set.  It fits exactly in the box.  I would take a photo of how the blocks are arranged. Next cut a piece of paper or card stock to fit inside the box and stamp your images on it in the place where they belong.  Other wise you may have a puzzle every time you use this set; or if they fall out when you open the box.  Hmmm, guess how I know how frustrating it is to solve that puzzle.

I can’t wait to show you all the things you can do with this stamp set.  Some are my own creations.  Some I learned from Stampin’ Up!’s home office, and some I cased from ideas I have seen on Pinterest.

Hip Hip Hooray

imageHave you tried any of Stampin’ Up!’s card kits yet?  Om My Goodness! They are awesome.  I used the Hip Hip Hooray kit.  Twenty cards for $19.95!.  The dollar store can’t compete when it comes to card cuteness.  Plus, it is a homemade card from your heart.

Here are just a few of the 20 cards I made in an afternoon while watching You Tube videos.  This kit includes everything to make all twenty cards except a pair of scissor to cut the bakers twine with!

Thanks to a Cat Groomer

imageHere is a Thank You card to send to my local pet groomer.  She did an amazing job shaving my cat.  Yes, you heard me correctly, shaving my cat.  My cat has fur that is 3″ long.  Needless to say spring/summer consists of fur everywhere!

10460205_925717057455417_5371327243211475773_nSo here is a photo of Spaz before in the morning.  Everyone thinks he is the fatter of my two cats.  He’s actually all fur.10376283_925717037455419_6789116964395877766_n

So back to my card.  It is made with retired colors.  I couldn’t even tell you which colors exactly.  It was made with current stamps and punches.

The fence is the wood background stamp.  The cats face is a 1″ circle punch. The eyes are Neutral Candy Dots with marker pupils.  The nose and whiskers were also drawn on.  The ears are punched from Elegant Butterfly Punch and Small Butterfly Punch.  The body is the 1 1/2″ circle punch.  The tail I cut free hand. The flowers are punched with the flower punch from Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack.  Of course a few rhinestones for a little touch of bling.

Tag It Tissue Holder

Stampmonthmarch

Tag It is featured in  this months Stamp of the Month Club.  Did you see the post here?  Paper Therapy will come straight to your mailbox when you join the Stamp of the Month Club.

A wonderful benefit to this stamp set, Tag It,  is the Ronald McDonald House charities.  For every stamp set purchased, $3 will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House charities.  While you are building your stamp collection, you will be helping families in need.

To get the complete directions for all three projects you will have to be a subscribing member.  With each monthly membership you will receive printed directions and I will also make one of the projects on a video tutorial.  This month I am showing how to make a tissue holder.  I used Kleenex brand tissue because I figured those can be purchased nation wide.  I am not sure if the dollar store brands are the same size or not.  (Also, I could purchase these right at the store in our tiny town. I didn’t want to drive 30 minutes for a package of tissues.)
Tissue Holder Video

You may have noticed in a few spots I sounded a little flustered.  I am sorry for that.  I had all my pieces cut ready to show you how to make this little box.  It sounds easy enough.  First I had miscut my card stock, misscored it, etc.  If you name it, it probably went wrong on the video.  Oh well, I am crafter not a movie producer :) .

Bat Bag Topper

Autumn is definitely here.  Temperatures are dropping and leaves are falling. Smells of apples cooking warm the house.  Before you know it Halloween will be here, as in tomorrow.  Once again it’s Mr. Big Shot to the rescue.  What would I do without him??

imageThe bag topper is the top note die cut out in black card stock.  The moon is a 2 1/2″ circle punched from yellow and the edges are sponged. The bat body is made from the owl punch.  He is sponged in white craft ink.

The wings are actually from the butterfly die run through the Big Shot as well.  The butterfly was cut in half, and the small scallops are made with the 1.2″ circle punch, punching three small scallops.  The tree branch is from the bird builder punch.

I hope you enjoyed this really quick treat bag topper.  Now off to get the rest of a “cheerleader” costume.

Hostesses, Chocolate & Sneak Peeks, Oh My!

So what do Stamp Club Hostesses and chocolate have in common?  A sneak

all new club members giftpeek at a new stamp set called Really Good Greetings.  I selected the verse Finally A Day That Really Is All About You.  Most people might think to use that as a birthday sentiment.  In this case I used it for my Stamp Club Members.  When it is their turn to be hostess, the day is all about them and stamping.  How, awesome is that?  Want to know how you can join one of my stamp clubs?  Click here.

What?  You want a close up of that verse?  Well here you go. Isn’t it just cute?  An you want to know how to make one of these cute little holders yourself?  Super easy.

First start with a piece of Designer Series Paper measuring 9 3/4″x 3 1/4″. Score at 3 14″ and 6 1/2″ inches.   You should now have three equal parts.inside chocolate

Cut the last third at a diagonal. Place red sticky strip at the bottom to hold the pocket securely.  Wrap with a coordinating ribbon and decorate. Insert a yummy chocolate of choice.

I decorated mine with the new stamp set Really Good Greetings, punched with a circle punch and layered on the large scallop punch.

4 designs of chocolate holder

Here are the four designs I made from the one package of Designer Series Paper. Sunshine & Sprinkles.  I just love this paper and even the name of it is so cheery and fun.  I will be sad to see it go away at the end of May.

Now I have a little story to tell you.  After I finished creating a dozen and a half of these cute little chocolate holders, my friend Loni sent an email out saying she was setting up a blog hop this weekend.  The theme being “Hostess Gifts”.  I am not kidding I had just finished about 10 minutes before I got the email.  I said sure, I just finished a bunch of hostess gifts.  These items don’t have to be for a hostess.  They can be  for teachers, co-workers or a friend you are thinking of.  If you would like to see other small gifts you could make for someone, click here.
